ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan on Saturday predicted 2015 to be the election year, if the government forms an empowered judicial commission on electoral rigging and refers tribunal cases to it, as reported by local TV channel.
Talking to media at his Bani Gala residence, Imran Khan slammed former Chief Justice (CJ), Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice (R) Ramday for controlling the returning officers (ROs) in order to manipulate the Elections 2013.
Bashing Iftikhar Chaudhry, he said that the ex-CJ betrayed democracy in the state.
The PTI chairman said, “Iftikhar Chaudhry summoned me to court in order to silence me, he did not dare calling Asif Ali Zardari or Faisal Raza Abidi to the apex court”.
“We will prove it in the courts that the ROs helped the current government in rigging the elections and this is why the government now wants to save them”, he said. “If we submit to PMLN’s will, then no accountability would be held in this regard”.
“If the government forms an empowered judicial commission and refers tribunal cases to it, then 2015 would be the elections year”, said Khan.
Commenting on PTI resignations, he demanded for accepting the resignations of PTI members from the national and Punjab assemblies as well.
He categorically stated that as long as the judicial commission does not declare elections to be fair, PTI members will not go to the assemblies.
The skipper continued further that if a PTI member goes to the assemblies, he would no longer have any affiliation with the party.
He also demanded for the registration of cases under the Article-6 against all those involved in electoral irregularities.
